Privacy Policy

This policy describes how SurgeryVolume.com ("we", "us") collects and discloses information through this website (the "Site"). It applies to the Site only. Section 6 covers the clinician information that the Site publishes.

1. Information we collect

If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

When you view a page, our website analytics software records:

• the page viewed, and the date and time of the visit;
• the page or search engine you arrived from;
• the country, state, and city the visit appears to come from;
• the browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and browser language;
• an identifier that tells one browser's visits apart from another's.

Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver pages and to screen traffic for automated programs.

2. How we disclose information

We disclose information to:

• Service providers. Vendors that process information on our behalf: our hosting provider, the platform that hosts our analytics software, and our email provider.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information when we believe that law, legal process, or a governmental request requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of any person.
• Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, we may transfer information as part of that transaction.

3. Cookies and tracking

The Site sets no cookies for advertising, analytics, or identification, and we do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies operated by third parties. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set the cookies cf_clearance and __cf_bm on your browser when it screens traffic for automated programs. We do not read them.

Do Not Track. The Site does not respond to Do Not Track signals.

4. Your privacy rights

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that we hold about you, email contact@surgeryvolume.com. Requests about a clinician's page follow section 6.

5. Consumer health data

We do not ask visitors about their health, and we do not collect, use, sell, or share information that identifies a visitor's health status.

6. Clinicians named on the Site

The Site publishes pages about individual clinicians, drawn from public records that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) publishes on data.cms.gov. Each page names the CMS release it uses.

Corrections. If a detail on a clinician's page differs from the CMS release the page names, or a page describes the wrong person, email contact@surgeryvolume.com with the page address and the detail in question. We check the page against that release and correct any error we find.

Information CMS reports. We publish each clinician's name, specialty, and procedure counts as CMS reports them. To change the name or specialty that CMS reports, update your record with CMS through Medicare's enrollment system (PECOS).

Removal requests. We do not remove a clinician's page, or change a procedure count that matches CMS's release, on request. We apply this rule the same way to every clinician, whoever makes the request. We take a page down when CMS lists the clinician's National Provider Identifier (NPI) as deactivated and CMS's current release reports no procedure count for the procedure that page covers. If either changes, we publish the page again at the same address. We never accept payment to add, change, or remove information about a clinician.

7. Links to other websites

The Site links to websites that we do not operate. Their own privacy policies apply, and their operators may be able to see that the visit originated from our domain. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
